Materials

Here at Yarn we strongly believe in creating and featuring quality products through our inhouse and partner brands. This includes using the highest quality materials and processes to create beautiful clothing, accessories and homewares that are made to last. We focus upon sourcing materials that are sustainable, ethical and natural wherever possible and are planning to soon bring you further products and ranges featuring sustainable materials.

Cotton

Cotton is one of the key materials we use within our Lore Clothing Co., Aneura, Custodian Streetwear and Pure Ochre ranges. Cotton is a wonderful soft and versatile natural fabric. It has excellent breathability and is perfect for creating a whole range of products. Some of the cotton products we offer include tees, crew shirts, hoodies, tote bags, aprons, tea towels and placemats.

We source all of our cotton tees, crew shirts and hoodies from Australian suppliers that create sustainable basics. They focus upon building long term relationships with factories and are a part of amfori BSCI initiative which improves social performance in global supply chains. Our suppliers also use GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) licenced suppliers and are a part of the Better Cotton Initiative.

Linen

Linen is another incredible natural fabric. It is considered the strongest of all natural fibres and is created from the stem of the flax plant. Linen is a very environmentally friendly fabric, it uses less water and pesticides than cotton to grow, and is also biodegradable. Linen is breathable and highly absorbent, making it a perfect choice for summer.

Currently Lore Clothing Co. offers gorgeous fitted linen face masks and zip pouches perfect for keeping your mask safe or storing valuables. All up linen is an amazing, versatile fabric!

Bamboo

Bamboo is another natural material that we feature in our collections. Pure Ochres range of picnic sets, keep cups and lunch boxes are all composed of biodegradable bamboo fibre. A number of our partner brands also incorporate bamboo fibre into their clothing ranges.

Being one of the fastest growing plants in the world, bamboo is a very environmentally sustainable fibre. Once harvested bamboo can replenish itself within a year. The unique plant also requires very little use of chemicals and water. As seen through our product ranges, bamboo is an incredibly versatile plant that can be used for clothing, kitchen items and a whole range of homewares. As a fabric bamboo is luxuriously soft, breathable and has antimicrobial and antibacterial properties.

Silk

Silk really is the ultimate when it comes to luxury fabrics, not only does it look beautiful it also feels beautiful! Aneura offers an incredible range of silks for both men and women. Including shawls, scarves, ties, bow ties, cufflinks and pocket squares.

Silk is an incredibly unique fabric because of the way in which its made. Silkworm cocoons are harvested and fibres from the cocoons are used to create this incredible fabric. Silk has a long list of benefits for the body. As a breathable fabric it is a natural temperature regulator and is also beneficial in retaining your skin's moisture. The tightly woven, smooth fibres will keep your skin hydrated and glowing!

Recycled Polyester

Yarn features a number of products composed of the post-consumer recycled polyester also known as rPET. This amazing recycled fabric is created from plastic bottles and as such is a brilliant environmentally sustainable option. Both Traka Outdoor and Lore Clothing Co. offer an extensive range of polos and boardshorts composed of rPET.

The process of making the fabric is quite simple. The bottles are processed into flakes, these flakes are then melted, and yarns are pulled from the melted polyester. The result is a clean and raw material perfect for creating our polo shirts. rPET helps reduce the amount of waste going to landfills. Turning this waste into new products is a big step in the right direction for environmental sustainability within the fashion industry.

Polyester

Polyester is a highly versatile fabric perfect for both clothing and homewares. All of our brands feature this fabric through a number of different products. The fibres are durable and lightweight, it’s wrinkle resistant, dries quickly and retains shape well. It is also the perfect fabric for our vibrant sublimated polos. We are however aware of the detrimental affects this fabric can have on the environment through micro waste as well as the waste when the garment comes to the end of its life. We hope to increasingly use more rPET which is an amazing recycled alternative.

Modal

Modal fabric is a lightweight, flexible, and breathable textile with a super soft feel comparable to silk. Modal is a type of rayon fabric, but it is generally more durable than rayon and feels softer. It is considered a luxurious textile due to its soft feel and high cost, as it is more expensive than either cotton or viscose.

Modal is bio-based and made from spinning reconstituted beech tree cellulose. It is generally considered a more eco-friendly alternative to cotton because beech trees don’t require as much water to grow. Modal is classed as semi-synthetic because the plant-derived materials need to be soaked and treated prior to spinning.

Rayon

Rayon is a versatile semi-synthetic fibre known for its softness, breathability, and smoothness. Produced from natural cellulose fibres such as wood pulp, rayon is highly absorbent, making it comfortable to wear in warm weather.

Its draping qualities make it suitable for a wide range of clothing, from elegant dresses to everyday garments. Rayon can wrinkle or shrink if not properly cares for, so please read the label for laundering to maintain its quality
