Introducing Yarn Partner Brand, Deadly Dot Pots

We are very excited to introduce you to our new partner brand, Deadly Dot Pots. They are an up and coming small business, owned by Indigenous artist Mandy Draper. Mandy is a proud Darug woman - of the Cabrogal tribe - who creates hand painted pots and other homeware products. Deadly Dot Pots was launched in January 2020, and since then the business has been gathering an increasing following.

Deadly Dot Pots’ mission is to raise awareness about mental health. Mandy approaches this through speaking about her own mental health journey. Mandy says:
“I encourage our mob to understand the importance of mental health and to guide everyone to find that something that can assist their well being…...Painting is my go to, it assists me to cope with my mental health and re-frame my well being.”
Mandy explains that art has the ability to positively impact people’s lives, through viewing it and creating it. Every painting that Mandy creates focuses on telling stories about the importance of family and culture. All of Deadly Dot Pots’ products come with a story, explaining the journey of the painting and what some of the symbols mean.

Each product is hand painted with love by Mandy. The process always starts with the design, journey and story. Once the design has been created it is painted. It depends on how complex the designs are, but generally painting one pot will take three hours.
Mandy’s beautiful pots will be available on Yarn very soon! She also takes requests. So, if you have any special stories you’d like Mandy to paint get in touch!
