STORY - Jamigam Saltwater
This piece represents saltwater and the connectedness of land and sea. Water holds deep spiritual and cultural significance for Bundjalung people. The vast network of rivers, estuaries and coastal regions found across country represents a rich source of food and culture.
Saltwater is also central to our Dreaming and totems. The land and sea together form saltwater ‘Country’. Coastal environments are owned and cared for by Aboriginal people through a system of strict, complex community responsibilities built up over thousands of generations.
