STORY - Flowering Gums
This piece represents Eucalyptus flowering blossoms on Country. During summer, colour explodes from gum nuts like fireworks on these beautiful trees. The Eucalyptus is an important tree for Bundjalung people due to its many uses, such as the leaves used for body pains, fevers and chills and the bark and wood to make coolamons, canoes and shields. Many Eucalyptus trees on Bundjalung Country still bear the scars of Aboriginal people’s use over many generations.
