Jacinta-Rai Ridgeway-Maahs
Worimi Artist
My name is Jacinta-Rai Ridgeway-Maahs, a proud Worimi woman and artist creating on beautiful Butchulla Country in Hervey Bay, Queensland. My art is both my meditation and my voice. A reflection of the world I see through the eyes of a mother, a daughter, and a storyteller.
The vibrant colours I use speak to the joyful, spirited side of who I am. They mirror my bubbly personality and love for life. I often blend them with gentle pastels and warm ochres to create a sense of harmony, between energy and earth, joy and tradition.
I’m inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds me: trees, rainbows, the warmth of the sun. My work is also deeply grounded in love: for my children, my husband, my loved ones, my community, and those who came before me. Every brushstroke is intentional. Every symbol is part of something greater. A visual language of culture, connection, and identity.
There’s a gentle stillness in my work; a calmness and spirit that invites you to pause, reflect, and feel. For me, art is more than creation. It’s ceremony. It’s healing. It’s truth-telling. I hope you connect and feel that same spirit in every piece, just as I did while painting it.
