LAND

For many Indigenous people, land relates to all aspects of existence - culture, spirituality, language, law, family and identity. Rather than owning land, each person belongs to a piece of land (or sea). That person is entrusted to care for their land, providing a deep sense of identity, purpose and belonging. This relationship between people and the land is often described as ‘connection to country’. Land and the animals that live on the land remain a hugely important part of many First Nations peoples identity. This collection of artworks reflect this deep connection between the people, land, animals and plants.
