Rebirth
In Bidjara the sun is woman and is the source of life and death, bringing life and heat to the people.
This artwork represents women and their significance to the generation and rebirth of life, the earth, the land, relationships and all things of importance in this world. In Aboriginal culture women play significant and sacred roles in taking care of the land, country, lore, ceremony and children, and they teach the children how to be, how to love, how to care for country, for lore, and for spirit. This piece symbolises the essence of women and builds on the strength of women with the village created around us. Our ancestors would sit in a circle yarning whilst weaving, painting, preparing food…ultimately creating together whilst connecting with our cultural roots
