STORY - Nirrangi

Nirrangi

In Nirrangi, Wiradjuri artist Amanda Hinkelmann invites us to reflect on the quiet power of humility, vulnerability, and deep connection.

At the centre of this work are concentric circles — gentle ripples echoing outward, symbolising the profound impact of small acts, quiet moments, and inner stillness. Just as a single stone dropped into water can send waves far beyond its point of entry, the artwork speaks to the idea that influence and meaning are not always tied to grandeur.

This piece challenges the desire to always be big, bold, or seen — instead celebrating the beauty and strength found in being small. It reminds us that true human connection often arises when we allow ourselves to be open, honest, and grounded within the greater rhythm of the world around us.

Nirrangi is a meditative tribute to subtlety, presence, and the unseen power of the small.
