STORY - Ngurun Sky
This artwork depicts the importance of the sky. Bundjalung people of Australia have a rich lore associated with the sky and many stories and ceremonies are tied to the sky. Everything under the Dreaming creation is represented in the ground, the ocean and in the sky. Aboriginal people have been studying the sky for tens of thousands of years and are the first astronomers. Sacred Wollumbin (Mount Warning) on Bundjalung country is the first place in Australia to be touched by the sun each morning. The colours in this artwork represent the morning sky.
