STORY - Laura Songlines
This painting is about the Laura Festival, a place where people gather from near and far each year in North Queensland. Shown in the painting are returning boomerangs because a key feature of the festival is that people always return. In the centre is the ceremonial grounds, families would celebrate from sunup to sundown enjoying the culture. Different tribes would come and perform their dances and ceremonies. Families sharing and coming together, mothers and fathers would bring their children to the festival. The footprints show people from far and wide walking into Laura Festival.
