STORY - Barramundi
Barramundi is about the seasons. When you talk about seasons with Aboriginal people there are many seasons, compared to the usual western four seasons: summer, autumn, winter and spring. The Indigenous community has 8 different seasons, and all parts of our life follow the changes in these seasons. When it's a certain time of the year we focus on the flora that’s around. When people would see trees blooming they knew that it was time to go hunt mud crabs and go barramundi fishing. In the right corner you’ll see footprints which represent people travelling along the shoreline looking at mud crabs, barramundi and shrimp. The leaves depicted around the edge of the painting show the different colours of the trees and plants.
