Kungadidji Punthamara Artist

Taylor-Lee is a 15-year-old Kungadidji Punthamara woman living on Bundjalung country in Northern New South Wales. She is the young up and coming contemporary artist behind Ochre Sisters - expressing her deepest passions for family, nature and culture through art. She began her art journey in 2023 at the beginning of high school as a way to ground and recenter herself. Since then, it has become more than a passion. It has flourished as a way of expressing herself when words can’t, sharing love and appreciation and her most sentimental way of connecting to culture and ancestors. Her signature palette consists of blush, beige, and ochre tones; however, she incorporates vibrant splashes and deeper shades throughout her artwork to convey purposeful emotional expressions. She is committed to sharing art with community as a way to positively encourage youth to follow their passions, connect to country and persist with dreams that may seem intangible. Taylor-Lee finds her muse in her local community, the vastness of the ocean, the natural environment, her unbreakable bond with family and the strength of her grandmother, member of the stolen generation. Combined, these inspirations are intricately captured in every dot and line she soulfully paints along with the heartfelt story of each artwork.

"As a young person it’s difficult to believe in dreams that begin to seem more and more unachievable, but the only way to get anywhere in life is to give it a try and keep on working util you achieve your goal. It is the most incredible achievement to just follow your passion." – Taylor-Lee Scollay
