These gorgeous handcrafted boxes are perfect for storing jewellery or other small items. They are made from papier mache and each box is individually hand painted.
Naqqashi; Hand painting is a highly skilled profession in the Kashmir valley. Developed over generations and still used to decorate the hand made kar-e-kalamdani (paper mache) this low tech, low carbon footprint industry maintains cultural practices and traditional incomes that assist families to live an economically and culturally sound lifestyle in their home villages. The box papier mache base used for the boxes is made from recycled paper.

This image depicts the sandhills of Damien’s country, Mount Liebig, towards Papunya. When you see the hills from a distance, the wind blows through the sand, making the hills move and change form. The ripples, undulations and ridges in the sand make beautiful patterns.
