Kashida is one of the oldest Kashmiri handicrafts. It is applied to the leather by hand with the help of a small “aari” a hand tool similar to a crochet hook. Originally used to decorate clothing and the famous Kashmiri shawls, and practiced by both men and women, Kashmir produces Kashida of the highest quality. It is an historically important export for Kashmir.

Washing: mix a solution of warm water and dish soap. Dip and wring out a soft cloth and wipe the exterior surfaces of the bag. Using a clean, damp cloth, wipe off the soap and dry the bag with a towel. The warm, soapy water will help to remove scuffs and water stains.
