These gorgeous leather handbags will brighten up any outfit. They are crafted from hand embroidered leather using a technique called Kashida. Kashida is one of the oldest Kashmiri handicrafts. It is applied to the leather by hand with the help of a small “aari” a hand tool similar to a crochet hook. Originally used to decorate clothing and the famous Kashmiri shawls, and practiced by both men and women, Kashmir produces Kashida of the highest quality. It is an historically important export for Kashmir.

Style: Embroidered Handbag Leather
Materials: leather outer and cotton lining
Washing: mix a solution of warm water and dish soap. Dip and wring out a soft cloth and wipe the exterior surfaces of the bag. Using a clean, damp cloth, wipe off the soap and dry the bag with a towel. The warm, soapy water will help to remove scuffs and water stains.
Dimensions: 30cm (W) x 24cm (H)
Artist: Rama Kaltu Kaltu Sampson
Rama’s painting illustrates people sitting at an inma (ceremony) out Pipalyatjara way. There are wati tjuta, munu minma, munu tjiti tjuta, walytja tjuta (many men, women, children and families) sitting, singing and talking – each circle represents a person. This is taking place in Rama’s country, Kuntjanu, and all the people are looking to see what is going to take place.
